Eastern Green Hills Annual Conference concludes March 18: Phiral Khullen, an oldest village of the Anal Naga Tribe was recently in the news for hosting the Eastern Green Hills Annual Conference 2014 that started on March 14 and concluded on 17. Eastern Green Hills Churches Fellowship is an association of church members and villagers inhabiting the hill and mountain ranges lying in parts of the Chandel and Chakpikarong Block in Chandel district. The recently concluded edition of the conference at Phiral Khullen is the last before the golden jubilee celebration scheduled in 2018 with Oklu village as the host is organized. Even though the latest conference held under the theme of “Asapavan Kollar Apa Am” (In all things you do, do it for God’s Glory) was a boon to all, villagers had a hectic time arranging for necessary requirements. Acute shortage of water at the village made it impossible for smooth functioning as the nearest spring lies some twenty minutes on foot. One participant exclaimed he had not taken a bath in two days but was fine as the Conference was concluded successfully. The two-day event also witnessed exciting volley ball matches played at a small ground located on the hill top in the centre of the settlement. Altogether ten teams including four women groups from 6 villages partook in the contest during which Oklu and Phiral Leho bagged the first and second prize respectively in men’s category. Thorcham and Oklu village bagged the top two positions in the women’s category. In group song competition, Oklu Church got the first position while Thorcham and Anal Khullen achieved the second and third place respectively. As for the duet song contest, the top three places were taken by Thorcham, Oklu and Khunung Khullen respectively. The best camp discipline award was awarded to Anal Khullen Church while Thorcham Church got the honor for bringing in the biggest delegation. On the concluding day, the event was attended by several civil bodies including CNPO President Ws Kanral Anal, ANTA President Wng Kohring Victor, Principal of ACI (Higher Secondary School), L Wolring and Secretary of Anal Theological Assn, Ts Boonson.
