Editorial by Stephen Frank: “Conservative” California Republican Assembly REFUSES to Endorse Congressman Tom McClintock for Re-election !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Sacramento Bee yesterday had a story by Dan Morain noting that Congressman Tom McClintock had a “credible” opponent—no not a Democrat—a Republican. At the last minute a no name candidate with a consultant that worked for Guv Arnold, filed for the office. What would emboldened the Schwarzenegger wing of the GOP to challenge the gold standard of conservatism, Tom McClintock? How “no-name” is the opponent? Almost 36 years old he has NEVER voted. He has his excuses, claimed being in the military is why he should not vote—buy that? I first registered to vote when I was in the military–on my way to Viet Nam–and I voted in a tent in Lai Khe in the June, 1968 election by absentee ballot. Last weekend the California Republican Assembly, formerly a reliable conservative organization, refused to endorse McClintock—THREE times—and at that point he was UNOPPOSED. The CRA is so opposed to McClintock that running unopposed they could not support him. It was the leadership of the CRA that lead the effort. The next president of the CRA, Aaron Park—who in the past has denounced conservatives like Doug LaMalfa and Beth Gaines, was a voter in the process.—and his Placer RA was the majority of votes—if they had voted to endorse, Tom would have been endorsed. Then when the ca-ca hit the fan and Park knew he was in trouble, he announced another endorsing convention. Then the holder of the presidency of the State CRA, John Briscoe a self-proclaimed conservative, CANCELLED the March 19 meeting to endorse. So, both PARK AND Briscoe, leaders of CRA have put the organization on record of NOT endorsingSteveFrank-sm Tom McClintock for re-election. Will McClintock supporters stay in CRA? Should conservatives stay in CRA? After forty years as a dues paying member of CRA, and a Past President, I have dropped my membership. What do you think about the CRA refusing to endorse Tom McClintock? capoliticalnews/2014/03/09/editorial-by-stephen-frank-conservative-california-republican-assembly-refuses-to-endorse-congressman-tom-mcclintock-for-re-election/
