Effective as of this status, in light of recent events, I am taking a sabbatical / spiritual retreat of sorts from both Facebook as well all the stages I would normally host and perform poetry on throughout Central Florida. As of tonight and at least throughout the month of August, if not beyond, I am handing over hosting duties for Wednesday Open Words to Tim Rumsey and Ronin. All I ask of anyone who wishes to reach me is that you first watch Dave Chappelle’s appearance on the 200th episode of Inside The Actors’ Studio with James Lipton in its entirety. Parts 1- 10 are all available on YouTube; I feel parts 4 and 10 are the most important, but make sure you watch the whole thing beginning to end. I’d like to leave you with a Hebrew proverb: “Don’t wish for lighter burdens. Wish for broader shoulders.” And to one very special person in my life – you know who you are – I wish to say: I’ve learned my lesson. The hard way, but I’ve learned it. Tagore said, “Power said to The World, ‘You are mine,’ and The World imprisoned Power on its throne. Love said to The World, ‘I am yours,’ and Love was given the keys to the kingdom.” I am yours. I love you, unabashedly. I am through being and seeking Power and conquest. I am not in love with you. I have become Love for you. Rather, I was always Love, and you gave me my reflection. That reflection was you. I am yours.
