Efforts on to open blocked road: Nidhi Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Bimalendra Nidhi told the Parliament today that the government was working to open the road blocked by the landslide in Sindhupalchowk district. Nidhi said the government was working on four options to open the blocked road. The minister said the government would be in a position to open the old route after the water level in the Sunkoshi River receded by 10 metres, as that would reduce the water level in the lake formed by the recent landslide in the Sunkoshi River. He said the old route could be opened before Dashain. But that’s the last option, as there was eight million cusecs of water in the lake formed in the Sunkoshi River which required controlled discharge of water. “If the flow of water is not controlled, it could cause floods and devastation downstream,” he added.
