Election Day Rant.... Congrats to everyone who voted today. I for one didnt for several reasons. 1) Id be an uneducated voter. I literally know nothing about political candidates since I lost hope in most of them a while back, and since Ive no time to really do my research because of how busy I am with School and Work. Ive unfortunately become as ignorant and blind as so many other working class Americans who dont vote. 2) Im absolutely frustrated with the two party system. I refuse to vote in a country where only two political parties are considered serious And other partys lose not because their viewpoints arent valid, but because since they arent Democrats or Republicans they lack financial and public support. Third partys dont have primaries, lack advertisements, and publicity, and frequently have to be written in. Its a JOKE that needs to end. And the American public is frustrated. Honestly, I know Im part of the problem for not voting, but Im a little nervous about the results of this election, as some of the advertisements Ive seen have ZERO political views, and basically say vote for me because Im a real American and I wrestle alligators (Im Not Joking). Which will definitely appeal to a certain demographic. And busy and educated Americans are frustrated to the point that they dont even want to vote. Congress approval ratings are at an ALL TIME LOW of 15%. Thats even lower than the presidents which hovers around 40 - 50%. And when approval ratings are that low, people do STUPID things. I just dont know what to do anymore. Where are our riots, and protests? Were all upset and yet do absolutely nothing. Why cant we be more like European nations who actually protest when they disagree with their governments. Im frustrated beyond belief with this nation whos foundations I firmly believe in, and am proud of. But the state of the U.S. now is a joke. I had serious hope for the Occupy movement, but look at where that went. Teased by the media and a lack of leadership caused it to go no where... But were not gonna be taken seriously unless we do something about it. Thanks again to those who voted and are going to vote. And especially to those who voted on principle for a person they believed in despite which party they were in.
