Emily asks, Hi, I have a question I was wondering if you could post? Are allergy shots as harmful as typical vaccinations? Do they contain harmful ingredients? My daughter has a severe anaphylactic allergy to all flying insect venom, and I am told by the allergist she needs allergy shots weekly for the next 5 years to help her become immune to the venom. Going without the shots means the next time she is bitten or stung, it will likely by fatal. (Even with Epi-pens being administered right away, those are not always effective.) But if the shots are full of harmful ingredients, and she is injected weekly for the next 5 years, that is likely to be very harmful. Any insight as to what is in the shot? The allergist said he was pretty sure it was only small doses of venom, but I want to be sure, as he didnt seem confident in his answer, and was surprised I even asked. I havent been able to find out from any other source either, and was hoping for some experience/advice. Thanks. -Becca
