Employment Opportunity Stoney Parenting Program Coordinator Eagle’s Nest Family Shelter Summary: The Stoney Parenting Program Coordinator is a term position, as the funding ends March 31, 2014. The Stoney Parenting Program Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Eagle’s Nest Stoney Family Shelter (herein after referred as the Director). The work and job tasks of the Stoney Parenting Program Coordinator will be guided by the values and ethics of the community and the Shelter. The long-term goal of this program is to have better equipped parents with firmly attached children. Intermediate outcomes are to ensure that all children live with at least one nurturing caregiver, and parents have an increased capacity to nurture and provide for their children’s emotional and physical needs. The Stoney Parenting Program Coordinator Duties & Responsibilities: Creation of the Program: 1. Research gaps in existing parenting resources 2. Put together a workplan to fill/change gaps in existing parenting resources 3. Interview/gather information from Elders and “those who know” 4. Write the program 5. Implement program with a Pilot group 6. Evaluate Pilot group through home visits and questionnaires 7. Make appropriate changes based on evaluation 8. Train the trainers 9. Implement as a community program Administrative: Communicate progress with Director Document all research, evaluations & progress Written Reports of progress to Director on a regular basis Complete other duties as assigned by the Director Coordinate/liaise with other Stoney Departments to meet the needs of clients. ie. SCFS, Income Support Working Conditions: 5 month commitment to project with possibility of extension Commitment to confidentiality Flexibility to work weekends and evenings Valid drivers license & access to a reliable vehicle Criminal records check Child welfare check Skills, Knowledge, Experience: Working knowledge and understanding of child development, Working knowledge and understanding of impact of family violence on child’s development. Demonstrated ability to engage children & their families Knowledgeable about community resources, culture, history Experience with home visitation and safety Communication – skilled (verbal, written) Must have computer skills Knowledge of Stoney First Nation language and culture Qualifications: Social Work or Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree 2 – 3 years working experience with families who have had trauma in their lives Family Group Conferencing or Constellation Certificate, an asset Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), an asset Demonstrated facilitation skills Interested applicants may forward their Resume and/or application form before: October 22nd, 2013 Tribal Common Human Resources Stoney Tribal Administration Fax: (403) 881 – 2677 Email: employment@stoney-nation Only those short-listed for an interview will be contacted.
