Endal (1995-2009), described as the worlds most decorated dog, was a Labrador Retriever belonging to a paraplegic UK naval officer, Allen Parton. Endal knew over a hundred commands, both in voice and sign language. As a result, he could load a card into and also retrieve it out of an ATM, put and remove laundry from a washing machine, unplug the electric cord of Parton`s bath heater, open train doors, operate elevator buttons, post letters, dial emergency phone numbers...and more. Parton`s wheelchair was once hit by a speeding car which knocked him on the pavement. Endal shoved the unconscious Parton into a Recovery Position, covered him with his blanket, retrieved his fallen handphone and dialled the emergency number and then went barking into a nearby hotel for help. Endal was awarded the canine equivalent of the George Cross for this act. He has been given over ten prestigious awards in his lifetime. Widely covered by the media, Endal`s life has been published as a self titled book by Harper Collins and will be a soon to be made film. He has his own Wikipedia page and video and photographic records of his skill are available online. Born with a debilitating bone condition, Endal remained loyal to the person entrusted in his care and performed all his duties to the best of his abilities. He died at age thirteen of a stroke.
