Engr. Sampson Ngerebara in a press interview yesterday, responds heartily on what his governments attitude will be in response to running a peoples oriented government unlike the dwelling political barriers or limitations as it is presently is. His comments were as follows: My government will give every stakeholders in this state an equal opportunity and access to governance(what is inside the government house) Its going to be a collective responsibility to development, and I know the beauty of every leader is not the leader himself, it is the led, the followers (being the engine room of). And Im going to maximize the available resources within the state irrespective of where you come from And I believe that if Im able to do that courageously, Ill brake this artificial boundaries, that is called upland and riverine. As long as Im concerned, they are artificial boundaries, they are objects of human construct. God did not make any mistake of bringing us together and he expects us to live as brothers, and to live as friends and he expects us to come together and maximize the usefulness of what he has provided for us, and i think that if Im able to break that veil we will maximize what God has provided for us, and well indeed give God the glory. Dont support me Ngerebara on grounds of any tribal or ethnic sentiment, it is wrong. But support me because when having placed me side by side with other candidate/aspirants you find within you that strong conviction that Im indeed the best, because what Rivers state need today is the best, the best only. Like Im often asked In the face of all other contenders in PDP, what are my chances of winning the ticket. The PDP of today is not the PDP of yesterday, where you had what the call carry-go. PDP now has undergone a lot of transformation under the leadership of our Leader President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who has indeed given leadership a human face, he has widened the political atmosphere, for people to have access to participate in the political space, and Jonathan is indeed a due process man, and I believe that we are going to use due process to elect the best. Jonathan is out for the best. This is the first time in the history of this country that a leader could tolerate people from different ethnic group irrespective of their diverse opinion, even when most of them attempt to impeach on the leaders integrity. He has been able to endure, he has shown what I call patience by excellence. And I expect anybody who aspires to be a leader in Rivers State to cue (into this exemplary display of leadership). and thats what I have as an edge far above others. Secondly, I am also conversant with the terrain, the bible tells us in Haggai 2:3 who among you saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? [is it] not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing? As it is the same person who can tell indeed compare and establish the difference in the state as it is now from what it has been in the past, and it is the same person who can also know where weve erred, and luckily enough I was fortunate to have been part of the people who participated in building and also witnessed the former glory of Rivers State. And I know where we erred, and that is why I have the conviction that having known where we erred, I can redirect the state to where we are supposed to get to. These are some of the few edges I have above other aspirants. And Lastly, the ultimate aim of every leader is the unity of the people whom you wish to preside over their affairs, and by so doing decisions and government policies must be considered having in view the people as a primary focus for every decision which should be aimed to sustain the unity of the people and provide sustainable peace for them to co-exist. To that extent there are provisions in the constitution that guarantees rotation of power. zoning is the philosophy of a principle embedded in the PDP constitution, and also duplicated in the Nigerian constitution and referred to as Federal character. And you will agree with me that this state is made up of Three senatorial districts. And luckily enough they are made up of what they choose to call Riverine and Upland. And by the finger of God, not man, 2 senatorial districts have a fair share of this position. The West have had it for 8 years and the East now have had it for 8 years also. It is only just and fair that the South is given their own opportunity, and when we get there (to the South-East) we look for the most competent person and choose; thats what I stand for, for the unity and peaceful co-existence of this state. And I think thats another edge I have above my colleagues
