Enquiries into Hull city centre burglary. Detectives are conducting enquiries following a burglary at a newsagent’s shop on Alfred Gelder Street in Hull overnight on Wed/Thurs 8/9 January 2014. The shop owner closed the store at 2000hrs on Wednesday 8 January 2014 making it secure before leaving. On returning the following day at 0430hrs the burglary was discovered. Thieves had forced the front entrance which faces on to Queens Gardens in Hull city centre and made off with a grey coloured Sharp electronic cash register and a quantity of cigarettes. The cigarettes were contained in quite a large McVities Jaffa Cake cardboard box when taken. The cash register did not contain any money. The burglary took place in a well frequented city centre street and it is possible that someone may have witnessed something. If anyone has any information in connection with this incident they are asked to contact Humberside Police on the non emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number DV/2019538.
