Even There Saturday, November 2nd, 2013 Read Psalm 139:1-18 In [the Lord’s] hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of every human being. (Job 12:10 (NRSV) My daughter Laura’s poor health was becoming a growing concern, and the medical community was unable to find a solution. Someone suggested that moving to a more favorable climate might be beneficial. Although I fully supported every hope for improvement, as a parent I mourned her leaving. Giving up my active role as her medical advocate and giving her the freedom to put down roots 3,000 miles away were difficult lessons in how to trust and let go. However, God is patient, kind, and attentive to the cries of my heart. Reading the Bible and prayerful meditation assure me that we can never travel farther than God’s healing presence. God’s abiding love will always be with us. No matter where we call home, God will be there to hold us in the palm of his hand. We pray as Jesus taught us, saying, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”* Amen.
