Even if we do not agree problems are solved w discussion....heated or in a calm matter....Both of these gentlemen were on point about two spectrums of the same issue.... Tragedy usually brings forward discussion....but we cannot allow the debates and discussions to be swept under the American mattress.... i have waited over two weeks to gather information and listen to all these opinions and am ready to actually do something about it at a place that i can be most effective... ALL OF YOU TAGGED ARE SOME OF THE MEN THAT I have met and RESPECT MOST IN MY LIFE THAT USE FACEBOOK! I want to add substance and a proactive spirit to all of the opinions I have heard or read in the last two weeks on fb or in person.... The people tagged are extremely diverse.... But we have a couple of things in common! We are men! We are educated! and we care! We cant solve the world....But one thing we can do is watch our influence and inspiration be passed in small and big ways through generations..... I have been blessed to see the power of education as an educator not only inspire the 3000+ students I have taught in the last 21 years but I have seen how it has transformed me as a human being as I have given back to my community in Philadelphia.... I would like to begin a dialogue that would eventually lead to helping young men in our inner-city/ and tri-state area deal with the issues of the day... An avenue where no one would feel tied down to political correctness.... but yet deal with the tough issues in young-mens lives and help them find paths to greatness. I have the perfect boys to begin this program with @ Bodine High School for International Affairs.... I know this proposal is vague and non-specific at this point... but the male issues and needs of the day in the in our sity/area, your ideas, your diversity in age, race, nationality, political philosophies, careers, avenues of network, and experiences will lead to an amazing program that we can actually help boys in our communities! We can start small with the boys at my high school and than spread to our individual communities... The more consistent a father can be or a mentor can be in the persons life and teach them principles of real solid manhood, character, integrity and leadership, the more consistent you can be in the persons life and teach them those things at a younger age, and then the better off theyll be.~ Allan Houston Ready and able to make a difference, Carlos Humberto dos Santos
