Even today I live in a joint family happily with my parents, - TopicsExpress

Even today I live in a joint family happily with my parents, grandmother, my two elder brothers, sisters-in-law, my wife, kids together in an independent house in Hyderabad. The story which I am going to relate to, I am pretty sure it will take you back in 80s and feel nostalgic about the same. Somewhere in 1980s as a boy I remember, that was the most cherished moments of my life. There used to be just one cable channel (Doordarshan) and I used to wait eagerly for Sunday to come as it was the best family time together. It was show time for epics Mahabarata, Ramayana and Disney hour when I, parents, brothers and grandmother used to sit and watch the shows and enjoy every moment as a family. Obviously there was no facebook, no twitter, no mobile, no internet. It was just a b/w tv set without remote with a single channel, radio, landline probably in the entire apartment, no distractions, It was just pure relationship and real friendship (no chat, no whatsapp and no facetime stuff). Also I remember every day after school, I used to freshen up, have a quick bite and rush with bicycle to the park beside my house to meet friends and play around. Summer time means the best for us. Alongwith our family, my mom’s sisters family too assembled in Vijayawada and spend happily for those 1-2 months. Sitting on the ground and ready for the food to be served seems like a Hum Aapke Hain Koun family moment with such a large family under one roof celebrating festivals, sharing Kodak moments seems fresh even now. Lending a video cassette from a nearby shop and watching with family, neighbors seem the best way of entertainment for us in those days. Making personalized greeting cards by hand on family occasions and seeing the smile on their faces is the best joy to me as a kid. Putting an audio cassette in the taperecorder and dancing with friends, family is always a joy to remember. Going on picnic with family, cousins often is best way to spend weekends and holidays for me. Those were the days with no distraction and family was meant the most. Today living in a joint family is a rare thing. (People think we are from Mars). We should use technology to make life easy and not making itself a life leaving aside our family. Today the situation is very much like this. Family watches a television show. One is busy checking facebook, twitter updates. Another one on whatsapp. Some other person busy talking on the phone. Maybe other is busy replying to emails. There is no point in living in a house disconnected from your family and connected on the virtual world happily with artificial relationships. Love your family and respect their time. These days will never return but will remain the best moments of my life in childhood #ilovemyfamily at Yellow-Lemon
