Luke 2:10-11 • Collect of the Day ~ St. John, Apostle and Evangelist Shed upon your Church, O Lord, the brightness of your light; that we, being illumined by the teaching of your apostle and evangelist John, may so walk in the light of your truth, that at length we may attain to the fullness of eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. • A Collect for Saturdays O God, the source of eternal light: Shed forth your unending day upon us who watch for you, that our lips may praise you, our lives may bless you, and our worship on the morrow give you glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. • Prayer for Mission O God, you manifest in your servants the signs of your presence: Send forth upon us the Spirit of love, that in companionship with one another your abounding grace may increase among us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. • A Prayer of Self-Dedication Almighty and eternal God, so draw our hearts to you, so guide our minds, so fill our imaginations, so control our wills, that we may be wholly yours, utterly dedicated unto you; and then use us, we pray you, as you will, and always to your glory and the welfare of your people; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. • Carol Ecclesium, conducted by Philip Stopford, singing The Wexford Carol in Belfasts St. Annes Cathedral Good people all, this Christmas time, Consider well and bear in mind What our good God for us has done, In sending His belovèd Son. With Mary holy we should pray To God with love this Christmas Day; In Bethlehem upon the morn There was a blest Messiah born. The night before that happy tide The noble virgin and her guide Were long time seeking up and down To find a lodging in the town. But mark how all things came to pass: From every door repelled, alas! As long foretold, their refuge all Was but a humble oxen stall. Near Bethlehem did shepherds keep Their flocks of lambs and feeding sheep; To whom God’s angels did appear Which put the shepherds in great fear. “Prepare and go”, the angels said, “To Bethlehem, be not afraid; For there you’ll find, this happy morn, A princely Babe, sweet Jesus born.” With thankful heart and joyful mind, The shepherds went the babe to find, And as God’s angel has foretold, They did our Savior Christ behold. Within a manger He was laid, And by His side the virgin maid Attending to the Lord of Life, Who came on earth to end all strife. https://youtube/watch?v=TAc5UeKAwCw
