Ever had rotisserie breakdown? This happens when the roast seems to rock back and forth in one spot, or seems to spin fast half way through the rotation or even not move at all! If so, chances are that you didnt secure and balance your roast. Always use prongs or forks that came with the rod to lock into the roast so it turns as the rod turns. Use twine to make the roast as cylindrical and symmetrical as possible and check that the rod has gone through the center of the roast by spinning the setup in your hands at first. Basically you should feel the rotation to be fairly equal as the roast does its full revolution. Checking these will save the motor from any strain that could cause damage to it during the roast. Heres an example of a 2.4KG easy carve leg of lamb using a D-Cell Battery motor. These motors are the cheapest ones you can buy and have a great battery life allowing you to do many hours of roasting.
