Ever have one of those weeks? You know, a week when everything gets turned on its head, when your plans get chucked out the window and you find yourself flying by the seat of your pants. Yeah ... its been one of those weeks. Now, its all good stuff. Please dont hear a complaint in my voice. But rather, I was struck be realization that I simply dont have enough umph in me to do it. I cant just muscle through it all. This man is much smaller than he would like to admit, and I confess that I felt pretty helpless at several points this week. But I think that is good. At the end of ME is the place where Christ is seen to work most powerfully. You see, Gods power is made perfect in my weakness - or, in another way, Gods power is seen in its power when its clear that there is nothing in me that could accomplish it. Im reminded of Pauls words to one of the early churches of the faith: I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2.20) Every step these feeble feet make are enabled by the blessing and love of Christ. He changes the why AND the how of what I do. He brings meaning and purpose. The very Son of God spent His life on a rough-hewn wooden cross, experienced the separation from God that my sins earned me, and now works through (and often in spite of!) me. He has made me new, and He has now given the umph that can accomplish all that to which He has called me. He takes one of those weeks and makes it one of His weeks.
