Ever since the fall of the Soviet Union, the Capitalists in this - TopicsExpress

Ever since the fall of the Soviet Union, the Capitalists in this nation, the Wall Street Bankers and such, have felt that they now have a free hand to do anything they want without worry. After all, they had won the fight against Communism. They could then do anything they wanted, and not fear a well-organized and funded reprisal. So long as they feared Communism, they behaved themselves, did not exploit too much, else raise the specter of a workers revolt. With the collapse of the Soviet system, it became a field day. Protections put in place to secure the Capitalist system from extreme excesses were dismantled, safe in the knowledge that they had won; therefore, they were obliged to the money effectively stolen from the workforce. Raiding pensions, layoffs, outsourcing, in-sourcing, forced 401k plans, all became normal. Now there is a new Communist movement afoot, right here in the United States. Parties which, by all rights should have died at the end of the cold war, are growing. New Marxist parties have been founded and have won electoral success. By beating the Soviets, the right-wing in this nation may ultimately lose to the very groups they thought to destroy. Our two political parties are right-leaning in general. The Democratic Party has long been a center-right party, while the Republican Party has moved hard-right. The focused dismantling of the left-wing party apparatus in this country made both groups feel secure in their places. The only way in which real change can and will happen might be for a strong hard-left movement to organize, something which appears to already be happening. There are no numbers available on how many people hold Communist positions, the polling agencies simply do not ask them, but in general, based on the growing popularity of Marxist parties, it appears to be swelling rapidly. How will right-wing pundits look when they call the Democrats socialist when there is a real left-wing metric to hold them up against? Those who fail to remember history are often times doomed to repeat it. The Russian Revolution was not a new event, just a repeat of the events from France at the end of the 18th century. Now we are seeing the same conditions as Russia, and France, here in the US. We kept these conditions at bay through the New Deal, and now with the protections dismantled, they are coming to a head. And here sits American Communism, uniquely our own, saying, “I told you so.”
