Every few summers R.A. and Ursula Kent from Fluker, Louisiana - TopicsExpress

Every few summers R.A. and Ursula Kent from Fluker, Louisiana would visit their friends in Ashland, Oregon and their Amite friends, the Verger family in Coos Bay. Bringing their Louisiana charm, they would gather all of the people together for a lovely dinner in Ashland, recognizing those who had helped them be successful in the timber business during their years in Oregon. Attending this southern hospitality would be their accountants, their pilots who cruised the timber, their lawyer, their Presbyterian minister, their friends or neighbors. It was such an unusual event hosted by these charming people, the Oregonians could not believe anyone could be so thoughtful. Some had flown to Louisiana to make sure there were really places like Fluker and Amite. This picture was taken in our yard in Coos Bay in the mid 90s with the Kents favorite guest at their dinners, our grandson Aaron Johnson. The world is indeed a poorer place without them. What I would not give to have another summer visit with them.
