Every morning I get up like I am going to a high paying job. Drive - TopicsExpress

Every morning I get up like I am going to a high paying job. Drive for an hour. Sometimes rushing so that I wont be late. This ATL traffic is a B.. I do this 5 days a week (normally)..No vacation, sick leave, benefits, retirement, birthdays off, no perks. My salary is $0.00. But I am happy doing what I do. It is a labor of love. I deal with people that some would call down and out, homeless, jobless, hungry, spiritless, emotionally and mentally challenged or broken folks. Some of these people are happier than many of my monied friends, who live high on the hog. Some are destitute and looking for a way back into society, on the verge of giving up. Some have little education, many are degreed. Some have written a blank check for up too, and including their life, fighting for this country and what they believe in. Many have been to prison and are part of that system that demonize those who have entered its gate. Some have been domestically abused along with their children. But my spirit tells me that they deserve to have a decent life just as I do. The GOD in me tells me that I have an ordination to do something about it. I dont need any religion to explain that to me. My spirit compels me. I dont seek plaques, awards or glory. As Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King said in a speech, a few days before his demise, It doesnt matter about the hundreds of awards I have, degrees i have earned, or my Nobel Peace Prize... All I want them to put on my tombstone is that I was a servant. So saith I....Good night my family and friends
