Every so often on big public posts like these I click through and read some of the comments. I did with this one, and was amazed to find that, within an hour of it being posted some random NY violinist had set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to get this guy some new bagpipes, that people from all over the world had donated, that within two hours they had more than enough funds plus a bagpipe manufacturer on board, and were tracking down the man to find him. A lot of people had seen him in the same place with his book cart. Sure you can be skeptical about whether the money will get there under such circumstances, and sure, there are a gazillion people out there with bigger needs than bagpipes, but theres something lovely about a story of such spontaneous generosity from strangers. I wish this man well. Long live the good side of social media!
