On the fateful night of July 30, 1982 at 9:00 pm there was uncontrolled flow of reservoir fluids-gas leakage happened at SAGAR-VIKAS. By 9:30 it resulted in a blow-out. August 3, 1982 - RED ADAIR all of 5’7” came on Government of India’s request from the other side of the world to “cap” it. He was successful. This moment has been imprinted in my minds. Kuwait War – When Saddam Hussein left Kuwait by blowing oil wells. Even at that time it was RED ADAIR who came to the rescue. August 7, 2004 – RED ADAIR – aged 89 – passes away battled more than 2,000 land and offshore oil well, natural gas well, and similar spectacular fires. He dominated his chosen field.
