Exceptional Paramarine group - PFC Wesley H. Claire. PFC Claire graduated from the Marine Corps Parachute School at Camp Gillespie California in 1942. He was assigned to I Company 3rd Parachute Battalion and participated in action against the enemy at Vella LaVella 14 Oct 1943 - 3 Dec 1943 and Bougainville 4 Dec 1943 - 15 Jan 1944. After the Parachute Battalions were disbanded he was assigned to B Company 1st Battalion 28th Marines were he participated in action against the enemy on Iwo Jima 19 Feb 1945 - 27 Mar 1945. He was awarded the Bronze Star medal for his heroic actions on Iwo Jima.
