Excerpt from Jonny Strongbow: “Hmmm?” Amber responded. “Let’s just have breakfast in bed,” She mused. She reached out, grabbed him around the waist, pulled him into bed, and met no resistance. As soon as she had him into position she kissed him. “Oh,” he said, “let’s skip breakfast and go for lunch.” “Good idea,” she said, kissing him again. In the afternoon, they met Cindy, Mary, and Renzo in the downtown area. They were looking at the marquee which announced the ‘Beatles’ performance which would be that very evening. “Renzo?” Cindy said “Yes Cindy,” he responded, slowly. “Is there a way to fast forward the program? I can’t wait to see the show/” “I second that.” Amber said. “This is the event we came here for.” Renzo reached into the inside pocket of his jacket and took out a flat rectangular device. He unfolded the device so that three sections lay in the palm of his left hand. He touched a sequence of icons on the smooth surfaces of the device with his right index finger. The three panels made a whirring sound and began to glow a bright green color. The group looked around when the pedestrians on the sidewalks rushed past then broken streaks and blurs. The shadows of streetlamps moved with the passing virtual Sun until they lit up and Sun slipped below the virtual horizon. Renzo touched another sequence of icons and the blurred images slowed to perceivable normal speed. A flock of pedestrians flowed into the theatre with a wave of murmuring voices. “Renzo you’re a living doll.” Cindy kissed his cheek. At that time, the group followed the crowd into the theatre. An usher showed them to their seats and they settled in with Jonny on the end of the row next to Amber to his right, with Renzo to her right, and Cindy sat between Renzo and Mary. The even duplicated the musty smell of this old auditorium.” After a few minutes the lights of the nave of the auditorium were dimmed. The announcer addressed the auditorium” “Signore e Signori al Palasport è lieta di presentare a voi dei Beatles. The announcer added stress and volume to the word ‘Beatles.’ The crowd erupted into a loud roar. Jonny winced at the utter volume of the roar. He had heard of the audience reactions to the Beatles but now he was experiencing the impact. The women seemed unaffected by the uproar. The curtain raised and the volume increased. The figures were translucent as opposed to solid and created an eerie ghostly affect for the performers who were poised and adept. Amber’s face brightened into a smile as the music began to play. She was experiencing the effects of the music that had described to her on countless occasion and she was delighted. Cindy and Mary were excited as well as Jonny who was impressed by the quality of the projection. Later, after the encore, the crowd flowed out of the front with the murmurs much quieter. As they walked out onto the front entrance, Cindy wrapped her arms around Renzo’s neck, kissed him and said: “Renzo! That was stupendous."
