Excuse the shaky video quality - I will be grabbing pieces of city council meetings as we head toward November to illustrate things I feel are important as you think about whom to vote for. In January, city council voted on banning styrofoam - again - NO PUBLIC VOTE. Unlike my take on plastic, I think this would have been a gross overreach. And I would have loved to have voted on it - even though it failed! Simple concept - Let The People Vote on major issues! Shaw, Boardman, Hardy voted FOR the ban, Sullivan, Katapodis, Carcio and Harper voted AGAINT it. Chamber President Jerry Wheeler made what I felt was a compelling, common-sense argument against the ban. His broader message rang true for me too, about what this city needs. Two very solid minutes I believe are worth your time. We need to ask candidates - what would you have voted on this- and would you have allowed US to vote on it.
