Explain this to me. I am really confused and I would like to - TopicsExpress

Explain this to me. I am really confused and I would like to understand. Here it is. When I was growing up I saw both of my Grandfathers had retired from GE. I remember seeing the picture of Grandfather proudly retiring. While growing up, it was explained that I was not worthless. It was also explained that the more that you invested in yourself, the more you were worth. If you graduated high school, you were worth so much, if you had a collage degree, you were worth more, if you had experience, you were worth more and so on. So, as I got older, High School did not mean anything, you had to have college or experience, then it was college, now it is BA or higher, just to get a job. Going to school is making an investment in yourself. Now, I hear people that believe that the employer does not owe anyone anything. People that work minimum wage jobs are not worth anything. If you want to make money, work 3 or 4 jobs. CEOs earned the money. An employer does not owe you anything. I do know that jobs, 20 or 30 years ago, that were paying $25 an hour with benefits and perks. And that same job was doubled in responsibility, are paying $12.50 an hour with no benefits. The price of of living has gone up. More schooling is required for the same job and request your loyalty. Once upon a time, the employers did not owe you anything. They paid a minimum wage and you had to be happy. If the employer did not like what you did, they would throw them out in the street or humiliate them and take away more pay. There was times called the Middle Ages, then there was slavery, and now we are back on our way to those times. I need explained to me, why there are so many people that believe they are not worth anything. They were put on the earth to serve but not reap. Now that the minimum wage market has been flooded with those that used to be higher or middle class are having to try to beat out the poor in the scrap of bread thrown into the streets. How do I explain to my children that no matter how you work, and how good you do, you have no worth?
