‘FAIR CITY’ ACTOR GEOFF MINOGUE (AKA TOMMY DILLON) TO LAUNCH LONGFORD AUTHOR’S NEW BOOK. Popular ‘Fair City’ actor Geoff Minogue is leaving Dublin behind in a few weeks to head for Longford Library where he will take time out of his busy schedule to launch local author Audrey Healy’s latest book in Longford County Library on Thursday September 18th. This is the Rooskey native’s eighth book - and her first collection of poetry. Entitled ‘Mesmerised by You’, it features a wealth of diverse and often intriguing poems about humour, love and life and includes many writings about some of Longford’s best known characters such as those portrayed in ‘Destination Unknown’, ‘More than Just a Bar Man’ and ’99 Years Young’. Actor Geoff is sure to be a popular draw to the library, having dominated the small screen over the past few months recently in Dublin soap ‘Fair City’ with a compelling storyline which has seen his character Tommy Dillon’s life take a downward spiral since the breakdown of his marriage to wife Judith and face a subsequent mental breakdown. Rooskey native and Longford based Audrey is a freelance journalist who has had work published in publications such as Ireland on Sunday and The Sunday Independent, Longford News, Westmeath Topic, Roscommon Champion and Roscommon People and longfordlocal as well as a number of trade magazines. She is the author of seven previously published books, ‘St Thérèse in Ireland’, ‘Dubliners: What’s the Story?’ ‘Contacted’ (with Don Mullan), ‘The Singer and the Song’, ‘Mick Flavin – Celebrating 20 Years’, ‘The Rose and the Thorn (with Don Mullan) and ‘Afterlife.’ She currently freelances for a number of publications. Geoff Minogue will launch ‘Mesmerised by You’ in Longford Library on Thursday September 18th at 7pm.The book is available in Easons Longford, Longford Shopping Centre, or in local stores in Rooskey and Dromad.
