FIRE WEATHER WARNING for southern parts of the Channel Country District Issued at 10:40am EST on Thursday the 18th of July 2013 for today. A strong trough will approach the Channel Country today, moving eastwards through the district this evening. Dry, fresh to strong and gusty N to NW winds ahead of the trough are expected to cause the following conditions: Severe Fire Danger in southern parts of the Channel Country District today. Temperatures up to 28 degrees, relative humidity down to 30% and winds to 50 km/h are expected. The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service, Rural Operations Branch advises that fires will be uncontrollable and fast-moving. A cooler W to SW change will extend through the Channel Country District from the west in the wake of the trough late evening. The next warning will be issued at 5pm Thursday EST.
