FIRST PUPPY LOVE I had been close to girls before My Sisters classmates and neighbors But with her there was something more Like ice cream with brand new flavors Every time I saw her smiles My throat would get so dry My belly gave up butterflies And it felt so good I could cry And every time she came so close My heart would cease to pump It was too much a cupid’s dose And poor me my nerves would dump Her voice was like the flow Of a spotless stream in heaven Her eyes had a brilliant glow Like diamond in forever’s haven All this just made me feel Like I had discovered a new world Like my eyes just had a new peel And opened into a brand new world I wanted her and I to talk But didn’t know what to say to an angel And if her and I took a walk How would I look under her good spell But hey is it coincidence How come she is always around me And if truly it is just providence is that why she never looks at me I was never sure of any of the answers To questions I would always ask I was sure we were meant to be partners But I could never ever take up the task But twenty years after here we are Laughing over our first puppy love It is still here with us though far The memory rains like it’s from above
