FLASH BACK 27 years ago History of the ‘Commemorative Postage Stamp’ & ‘First Day Cover’ of Sree Sree Thakur on HIS holy Birth Centenary in 1987 Many eminent personalities realized the importance to release a Commemorative Postage Stamp by Government of India on Sree Sree Thakur on HIS holy Birth Centenary in 1987. They tried for it from personal level. On behalf of Satsang, Sri Jatindra Nath Mohanty [The then Asstt. Secy, Satsang], Dr. Subhas Chandra Banerjee [former Secretary of Arts and Commerce, University of Calcutta], Sri Debashish Mitra [Social Worker] & others tried their level best. Jatin da personally approached to Mr.Surinder Singh Ahluwalia (The then M.P) through a common friend. Dr. Phani Bhushan Roy also approached to the honorable M.P for the same issue. Mr. Ahluwalia was his student life friend. After received many requests from different sectors, Mr. Ahluwalia wrote a request letter to Mr.Rajib Gandhi (The then honorable Prime Minister of India) for his permission on the subject. One day in the Parliament annexed, Mr. Ahluwalia faced a heavy weight question from the then honorable Prime Minister Mr. Rajib Gandhi. In a light mood, Mr. Gandhi asked Mr. Ahluwalia, “Being a Sikh, why do you keep your interest for a Hindu Saint?” Mr. Ahluwalia replied firmly, “Sir, being a Sikh, I feel proud to say you that Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra is not a mere Bengali. HE is above all Caste and Creed. Advent of the Lord in the form of incarnate, the Supreme Father in flesh and blood on the earth, is a significant natural phenomenon. With the Advent, in the 20th century in the form of Sri Sri Thakur Anukul Chandra, there comes an explosion of knowledge, arising out of a massive bang on human consciousness.” The honorable Prime Minister realized the truth. He instructed the relevant Ministry to do the needful urgently. Thus the noble project was materialized. The 100p multicolour Postage stamp and First day cover was designed at Nasik. First day cover and the Information sheet was designed & prepared by Sri Sankha Samanta, Smt. Alka Sharma & Mr. S.N. Daftuar. Sri Jatindra Nath Mohanty took the vital role on providing information on Thakur in english for the Information Sheet of First Day Cover. On 2nd September, 1987, Mr.Santosh Mohon Dev (The then Union Minister of State for Communications) presented Sree Sree Borda a colorful Album of Commemorative Postage Stamp of Sree Sree Thakur along with a First Day Cover in the residence of Borda at Saroshi Bhawan, Satsang, Deoghar. After presenting ceremony, the honorable Minister went to the Utsav Mancha at Main Pandel. There he officially released the Commemorative Postage Stamp on Sree Sree Thakur on the occasion of Birth Centenary celebration. Realizing the Stamp he delivered his Ministerial Speech, “At first, I bow down myself at the feet of Sree Sree Thakur and say ‘Jayguru’ to all the devotees & disciples present here ! I personally feel proud to present myself here on the holy occasion. Today, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India is happy by paying tribute through release a Commemorative Postage Stamp along with a First Day Cover in honour of Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra on HIS holy Birth Centenary celebration. Department of Posts issued 20 lakhs of Postage Stamps on Thakur. I fervently believe that the ‘universal Fatherhood of God and common brotherhood of all men and women’ which was established in Satsang by Sree Sree Thakur is to be propagated by HIS ardent followers throughout the world, and before long. I render my utmost regards to the Man making Institution ‘Satsang’ and its founder Yug Purusottam Sree Sree Thakur again and again.”
