FOOD BILL FANS: The parliamentary select committee is considering the food bill ( Supplementary Order Paper 278) this week and on 20-21 of February and categorized submissions into the following order: • Infringement of sovereignty • Potential breach of the Treaty of Waitangi • Potential for entry of GMO • Country of origin labelling • Lack of regulation on repackaging • Excessive regulation and compliance costs • Domestic standards that differ from export standards (important for NZ to be able to have higher standards than the global minimum) • Immunity of food donors from prosecution • Categories for exemption
