**** FOODS OF LAOS **** Im taking a working holiday in beautiful Laos and wanted to share some snaps of delicious local foods Ive been enjoying. From top L to bottom R: Buffalo and vege stew with sticky rice served inside the basket - this was my first time eating buffalo and the dish also included pieces of fatty buffalo skin; Beef Pho (traditional Vietnamese rice noodle soup) served with an abundance of fresh mint, which seems to feature prominently in many dishes in Laos; Duck laap - laap is a distinctively Laos, spicy dish that includes minced meat (can be pork or chicken also), chilli, shallots, and mint; and Crying Tiger Beef Salad (I love the name!), a very spicy, warm salad of beef, chilli, fish sauce, shallots and mint, with parboiled vegetables on the side and jeow (spicy tomato-based dip) for dipping.
