FOOTNOTES from the Florida training camp: sounds like you folks need more fireside reading! Hang in there, the sun is heading back, sets after 6pm in Ocala, now, saw a dandelion blooming and wild violets, also, on the Cross Florida trail. Im doing a lot of 1hr+ training runs on various sections of CFT, which is easy access from several trailhead across central Fl. Those of you who bicycle would be in ecstasy here, with the hundreds of miles of trail bike paths through the woods in this same 1200+ mile system. Those of you horse people would also enjoy the same benefits from the designated miles of horseback trails. The beauty is they are all very well marked and separate. Other CFT notes: did meet face to face w/ a Banana Spider, dangling from its web (google those big babies). Also was startled by a couple herds of feral pigs in the Pruitt section, running amuck! No rattlers yet, though. Meet lots of interesting people on the trails, mostly older northerners hiking for fitness, also a lady from Inverness who is race director for the 12 hours of Inverness in a park down there. She knew my NH accent and has done the Pisgah trail race!! The running is coming along, the Mediterranean life style (Buster doesnt diet) is keeping my weight under control and I cracked a pretty good 5K at the Ocala Marathon weekend. You had a great turnout for the 1st Chiller and several Milers at Boston Prep 16...you all will be blazing some times when you can start shedding those layers!!! LOL, Stan Dutton
