FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Media Contact: Debbie Loucks Monty and Pat Roberts, Inc./Join-Up® International (949) 632-1856 debbie@montyroberts Monty Roberts Arrives in India to See the Impact of Charity’s Local Equine Welfare Work Solvang, CA, September 25, 2014 — Internationally renowned horse trainer Monty Roberts will spend the next week visiting rural communities around India to see the positive impact the Brooke is having on working horses and donkeys. Monty, known as the “man who listens to horses”, promotes a non-violent approach towards horse-handling and his mission in life is to leave the world a better place than he found it, for horses and for people. The Brooke is a leading equine welfare charity dedicated to improving the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules in the poorest parts of the world, thereby securing the livelihoods of the millions of people who rely on them to earn a basic living. The week-long tour will include field visits to the Brooke’s District Equine Welfare Units in Sonipat, Muzzaffarnagar and Baghpat – all within a few hours of Delhi. There Monty will meet local service providers, Brooke staff and the communities who are directly benefiting from the Brooke’s work. “I have been looking forward to seeing the Brooke’s work for myself since first hearing about this wonderful charity years ago. Through my own program and mission statement, I hope to improve the lives of horses and humans alike and the Brooke’s fundamental aim is the same. This will be my first time in India and I am excited to meet with local communities, see how the Brooke staff engage with them, and provide useful tips along the way to help improve the lives of these hardworking animals and their owners”, said Monty. Petra Ingram, the Brooke’s Chief Executive, will accompany Monty on the visit. “We’re very excited to finally show Monty the important work that the Brooke does all over the world. We share a core belief with Monty that all animals have the right to a life free from violence. Horse lovers around the world admire and respect Monty’s gentle approach towards horse-handling. This is something we at the Brooke encourage in our day-to-day work with communities. To have someone of Monty’s stature so dedicated to seeing our work first-hand is extremely encouraging and proves we are having a huge impact. We look forward to introducing him to our work in India, and hope it will be the first of many field visits,” said Petra. Monty will also visit the Beri Equine Fair where animals are bought and sold and where the Brooke will have a mobile clinic providing veterinary treatment and advice to owners. Along with the field visits, Monty has received an exclusive invitation to visit the Army Equestrian School in Meerut and the 61st cavalry – the world’s largest remaining non-ceremonial horse-mounted cavalry. The Brooke works in 11 different countries across Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America and this year celebrates 80 years helping to improve the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules. ### MONTY ROBERTS AVAILABLE FOR SELECT INTERVIEWS: The New York Times bestselling author and world-renowned horse trainer Monty Roberts is available for interviews.
