FOR INFORMATION: QUERIES ON TRAFFIC/LORRIES USING B2011 (NEW DOVER ROAD) DURING THE NIGHT. Following extensive telephone calls today to both the Highway Agency and Kent Highways and logging complaints from Parish Council, reply now received from Kent Highways (Stephanie Wadhams - Highway Engineer (Dover Operations Team) as follows: It has been resolved on why traffic is using B2011 and not usual diversion route of A259 (Churchill Avenue) and then A260 (Canterbury Road/Hill): The reason transpires that the diversion being used through the Village along the B2011 is not because of maintenance to Roundhill Tunnel, when the usual diversion route A259/A260 can be used, but road surfacing works being carried out on A20 East of the Roundhill Tunnel (Coastal bound). Therefore, the diversion of using A259 and then A260 (Canterbury Road/Hill) cannot be used, as vehicles would not get back onto A20 because it is closed at this point. Hence the use of B2011 (New Dover Road). Confirmed again today by Kent Highways/Highway Agency, this work is due to be completed at the weekend, Sunday, 2nd February @ 6am. Hopefully then, peaceful nights sleeping will prevail again for all those living on New Dover Road (B2011)!
