FOR ME THEOLOGY RULES - Yes, I love theology and its systematic truth that has secured me in my faith as Ive had an open heart and mind for biblical doctrine over the years. After these 36 years in ministry I am becoming less and less impressed with churches that have been grown on personality, the right lights, up beat music and the right economically favoured location...... And there are thousands of them. Todays church planting specialists ( who tend to favour the spectacular rather than sound doctrine and the miraculous) appear to downplay sound, biblical doctrine as a vital core value. I believe the long term effect of this kind of carnal, fluffy, Big Bro in the Sky, Grace for grabs, its all under the blood, enjoy the ride, Daddy understands so chill bro cause no-ones perfect mentality, is weakening the church from within. Its a demonic rot. But the tragedy is, the true condition of us (i.e. the church) is being concealed as long as we have large numbers, a loud band, hidden tragedies, no accountability and no discipline. But, more and more this doctrinally diluted brew of music, social preference, topical epilogues and carnal comfort structure is totally out of touch with the deep heart-cry of a lost society epitomized by the psychiatrists couch for the affluent and the gutters for the poor. Lost mankind is desperate for the real thing and I cant help but think that deep down inside, people ( within and without the church) are desperate and longing for something weighty and massive and firmly rooted, something that is gloriously life changing, stable and worth pressing in for an eternal reward. Once people are introduced to sound doctrine, i.e. holy life changing repentant Truth, their souls will be forever changed as they become exposed to the depths of God and His Glorious Person. May our God by His Spirit make us hungry to know Him, to really know Him, and the power of His resurrection.
