FRIDAY UPDATE October 10, 2014 STUDENT COUNCIL OFFICERS: Congratulations to this year’s Student Council Officers. They are excited about the year! President – Kiely Hunt Vice President – Marcus Gibson Secretary – Grace Bechner Treasurer – Borna Hassanipour COUGAR STUDENTS OF THE FIRST SIX WEEKS: We award two students from each grade each six weeks for outstanding character, diligence, and behaviors observed. They receive a gift card, a free dress day on Tuesday (of next week), and they are honored in our cafeteria with a small “Who’s Who” bulletin board about them. Thank you, PTO, for contributing the gift cards! Our cougar students for the first six weeks are as follows: 6th grade: Ashley Cortes and Joshua Ange 7th grade: Alana Grissom and Ashaan Khan 8th grade: Kaitlyn Berman and Troy Daly Congratulations! MURDER ON THE WILD R RANCH: Our Drama students are working hard to get ready for an amazing Murder Mystery event. Purchase your tickets now! October 23 – 24, 2014 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Tickets include dinner and a show! $17.00 Go to QuestBoxOffice.eventbrite for details and to buy tickets! Assigned seating! – The best seats in the house will go first! VOLUNTEERING for Dinner Theater: October 23 and 24th, we really need parents and students to help to make the dinner portion of the murder mystery dinner theatre a success. The students that volunteer will be serving the dinner, dessert, and refilling drinks as needed. Parents that volunteer will help with plating the dinner/dessert or overseeing student servers. If you sign up to volunteer for either night, we ask that you be at the restaurant (Quests lunch room) between 5:45 and 6:00 so we can get everyone instructions and be ready to go. Parents, when you sign-up your student to help serve, please be sure to list your students name in the slot provided so we can have their name tag ready when they arrive. To sign up, refer to the email version for link: SPIRIT WEEK and FALL SOCIAL: Is the week of October 27th. Days and guidelines are attached. Our Fall Social will be a glowing event on November 14th (date in email version was incorrect). Mark your calendars you won’t want to miss this! TUTORING: All parents and students have been notified if students are required to attend tutoring starting this Saturday, October 4th. For those that qualify, the following dates are when we will be having Saturday Tutoring from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. until the next benchmark in December: November 1st, and December 13th. During the week, Monday is our math tutoring day and Wednesday is our ELAR (reading) tutoring day. Students will be in tutoring from 2:45 – 3:30. At that time, they will be sent to the cafeteria to be picked up by parents. This is the same location where students are dropped off. MOMS WITH MUFFINS: Thank you to our PTO for making this event lovely!!! BOX TOPS: We have a drawing at the end of each six weeks from the box top donations for each grade. This six weeks, we awarded a gift card to the following students: 6th Grade, 7th Grade, and 8th Grade. Thank you for helping our school in this way! YEARBOOK: While we have a dedicated team of photographers on our yearbook staff, we would love to have your photos to use for our 2014-2015 yearbook. If you have photos of school events, sports or other activities, or your students simply having fun, please upload them. Refer to the email version for instructions on how to upload photos. DALLAS EBOLA CASE: Our students and staff are priority to us and we are monitoring all the events closely for any changes or alerts. QUEST SCHOOL CALENDAR: Available to view in the More tab above, then go to Docs. ANNUAL KIDS AGAINST HUNGER FUNDRAISER: Our students did an amazing job packaging the food to be send to Belize. They raised over $3500 and packaged over 18,000 meals!!! COACHES CORNER: Athletic games, times and locations are posted on our Facebook page, check us out – “Like” us to get updates. QMS-L Athletic Booster Club. TUESDAY TREAT Our teachers and staff work very hard, so PTO would like your help to show them each Tuesday how much we appreciate all that they do. Quest teachers need your assistance as lunchroom monitor for two hours 1 time a year, month or week. Please call Mrs. Green at 972-316-6700 or email to agreen@responsiveed to assist. We are in great need of parents who can volunteer on Wednesdays. Volunteers, please arrive at 11:15 am to set up the cafeteria for the students. Monday October 13 – No School!
