FROM THE NEWSROOM: BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — The principal of a Bridgeport elementary school is accused of stealing $10,000 from a student fundraising account and spending much of that money at casinos in Connecticut and Mississippi. The Connecticut Post reports 45-year-old Marilyn Taylor was arrested Monday on a charge of first-degree larceny. She has been on paid administrative leave from her $125,000-a-year job since Nov. 10. Attempts to reach Taylor for comment Tuesday failed. A phone listing for her could not be found, and it was not clear if she has hired an attorney. She is free on $20,000 bond and due in court on Jan. 2. Bridgeport School Superintendent Fran Rabinowitz says Taylor wont be returning to the school system. The newspaper reported the alleged theft occurred in November 2013.
