FROM THE NEWSROOM: (CRN) State Police are warning against falsely reporting incidents, which has become known as “swatting.” The warning comes following a number of “swattings” in Connecticut – the most recent Monday, in which someone falsely reported a shooting and hostage situation at a home in Colchester. While later determined not to be real, state police spokesperson Trooper Kelly Grant says there was a large response by law enforcement and other emergency officials. “It costs a lot of money to have everybody come out or start heading that way, to find out that this is a false incident,” she said. Grant says “swattings” are crimes for which people can face serious penalties. Tune in for the full report.
