FROM THE NEWSROOM: MADISON, Conn. (AP) — Ted Kennedy Jr. has received the official endorsement of Democratic Party in his run for a state Senate seat in Connecticut. The son of the late U.S. senator was unopposed for the 12th District nomination Monday at Madisons American Legion Hall. The New Haven Register reports Kennedy told his supporters in a 20-minutes speech that he plans to work to build political bridges and ease the partisan divide between lawmakers in Hartford. Kennedy will face Republican Bruce Wilson Jr. in Novembers election. Wilson, a member of the Madison Board of Education, announced his candidacy nearly two weeks ago. Kennedy is 52-year-old health care lawyer who lives in Branford. This is his first run for public office. The 12th District includes Branford, Durham, Guilford, Killingworth, Madison and North Branford. ___
