FYI -----Original Message----- From: Marks, Charles B CAPT USFF, N02C ACOS Sent: Tuesday, October 01, 2013 7:16 To: USFF_NFLT_STAFF_ADMIN Subject: DeCA Operations under Government Shutdown Fleet Forces Team, I wanted to pass along a note from VADM Cullom on impact to Commissary operations during the shutdown: In my role as a member of the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) Board of Directors and Strategic Planning/Audit Committee Chair, I wanted to pass along information regarding the impact of a Government Shutdown to commissary operations. Mr. Joe Jeu, the Director of DeCA, has informed the BOD that, in the event of a shutdown, the commissaries will be impacted in the following way: * Stores outside the US will remain operational (including Guam and Puerto Rico) * On 1 October stores in the U.S. will be open to sell as much produce and perishables as possible. * All stateside stores (including Alaska and Hawaii) will be closed starting 2 October. * If a shutdown occurs, DeCA will immediately post the latest information possible on their website, commissaries, as well on the store Web pages and on social media before the shutdown. Unfortunately, there will be few updates to websites and social media until after the shutdown is resolved. Anything further I get from Mr. Jeu, I will pass along to you. Bill French and I will also keep ALCON apprised through Installation and Region leadership.
