FYI. Recently had an interesting experience with a wireless service. We have a wireless modem because we cant get hard wired high speed where we live. The charging connector on the unit broke so I took it back to the service provider. We didnt buy insurance on the unit but the manufacturer had a one year warranty on the unit. Since we got it in June of this year I figured it would be covered. Turns out the only thing not covered was the connector, the only thing that could break. We paid $50 for the unit with a two year contract that started in June. When I ask what it would cost to replace the unit the sales person said it would be $230. I went ballistic. The sales person went and talked to her manager and came back and told me there was nothing they could do. I ask to speak to the manager and explained the situation to her. I was pissed and she knew it. She then explained to me she could replace the unit with a reconditioned model with a full warranty for $100. She also said you should always buy the warranty. They had to order it and it came in today. When I was picking it up I told them I wanted the warranty which cost $6.99 a month,$84 a year. After signing me up for the warranty she told me there was a deductible if you used the warranty. I ask her what the deductible was and she said $100. Guess what! I went off again. Why in the hell would I want to buy insurance on a unit that cost $84 a year and pay a deductible of $100 if I can replace the unit without insurance for $100. Geez! Just another case of we are gonna screw the American consumer one way or the other mentality. Guess the bottom line is ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS and RAISE HELL IF YOU NEED TOO!!
