Fact: Guy Fox was hired by the church to strike out against the English by bombing the parliament building the day it was opening in hopes of maximizing political casualties. All because the protestants ruling the nation at the time were persecuting the catholics. As they had done to the protestants years before. In summation, Guy Fox was a mercenary who was hired to bomb the english parliament in revenge for the catholic church... Not for freedom, liberty, or justice... He is a false idol... A poorly chosen symbol of rebellion in the name of justice, considering what he did was to aid in an act of revenge. Im all for fighting in the name of liberty and justice. But perhaps we could choose a better mascot to adorn as the face of change. Perhaps a figure from the French Revolution or American Revolution. Surely there we should be able to find a man/women whos convictions and actions we can stand behind today? Seems a bit better given our current would be hero of choice... After all, he did fail at his stated mission. Also on another note, related yet tangential. It seems funny we should wear masks meant as the would be symbol of change and to empower the 99%. Yet they are mass marketed and mass produced in a way that benefits members of the 1%.
