Fairs and Shows - Update Last updated on December 9 3:37:01 PM Print Print Sept. 1, 2014, we introduced “Scentsy Standards” and “Velata Standards” – our new Independent Consultant Agreement in the US and Canada. Our goals were to improve readability, reduce length and streamline the Agreement so that standards can be consistently applied across channels. We recognize that the application of some standards has a very different impact from community to community, and Consultant to Consultant. Identifying a universal standard can be a challenge, and has been so for Scentsy when it comes to the topic of Fairs and Shows. Fairs and Shows are an important part of our history and are part of Scentsy’s and Velata’s DNA. We want to continue to provide you with opportunities to participate in these shows within your community, while still protecting the value of the home party. Striking the perfect balance between the two is definitely a challenge, but one we are determined to solve. In an effort to solve this challenge, and to ensure our Consultants are able to remain in market spaces that could be filled by competing brands, we’ve decided to offer an exception to the Fairs and Shows standard on a trial basis. Effective immediately in the US and Canada, we are opening the door to Consultants who want to participate in a temporary event that spans longer than the previously restricted 30 days. This includes cash-and-carry sales at such temporary events, provided they meet the following criteria: The event location must be within 50 miles (80 kilometers) of your home; The event is not held in a retail location (as defined in the Consultant Agreement); There must not be a contract with the temporary event prior to the day of the event; AND The event must require all vendor booth displays to be set up and torn down every day of the event. If you participate in a temporary event that meets the above criteria, we’ll need your help – and if you have an ongoing interest in cash-and-carry sales at these events, we have a great way for your voice to be heard. During this trial period, we’ll be watching and gathering data to see what works, as well as what doesn’t. Because the results of this trial will help shape future decisions regarding Fairs and Shows in the Standards, it is important that you email our Compliance team at compliance@scentsy with the details of your event (including the name, date and location of the event). We’ll make a record of your participation during this trial period and answer any questions you may have. Subsequent revisions of the Scentsy and Velata Standards will reflect what we learn from this trial period. As always, we welcome your input with the hope of helping you work your business in the most successful way possible. Again, this applies to US and Canada only. Thank you for all that you do!
