Falimat asks, Why cant they see what I see?. She is barely 10 - TopicsExpress

Falimat asks, Why cant they see what I see?. She is barely 10 years but she believes she can take a decision on this one. Her Uncle, who pesters her to read all the time, is a first class graduate of Chem. Engineering. He has not found a job for 4 years now. Her father who keeps saying Education is the most important thing is not a good example; he is an academic, boasts of a PhD but he had to work for 20 years before he could start building his own house. Her mother talks of education in high esteem but she is one of the several teachers in her school who cant afford a car. So Falimat wonders why people get angry when she says she would pick Music in the future over Medicine. Cant they see how a career in Music brings all that a doctor would need to work for in 5, 6 or 10 years? Then, there is a man in his fifties. He had seen it all. He had a house in almost every state. He had the cars that mattered right from the military regime of Abacha to the democratic term of Obasanjo. He was a global trotter. He was a celebrity, a renowned musician. But now he owned nothing. Like his other colleagues, he spent that amassed fortune on life. He lived a fake life he had to sustain even when the wealth vanished. So he sold all he worked for until he owned nothing. He had nothing to fall on. He couldnt fit in again. He had no education. And there is a country, begging to be elite, to be seen as the giant that she say she is. Every crisis is a confirmation of what everybody sees that she needs. An Ebola attack tells the world her hospitals need more professionals. Her high import rate tells the world she needs savvy entrepreneurs. The rise in modernization echoes the need for more high tech manufacturing. This period where deadly microbes pop up anytime tells her to equip her researchers for an unknown future. So, Falimats family was right. Get that education. Prepare for yourself, family and country. Have a nice weekend THE MAN WHO SAW TOMORROW: Nostradamus once said a mad man from a land which is very similar to Persia will rise up to destroy the West. I didnt know who to look out for. Lol. But when the leader of Russia yesterday reminded his Western friends that Russia is a nuclear country, I said Aha! But Russia has nothing to do with Persia and She is not European. So Nostradamus and I are both wrong.
