Protips for newcomers wholl be using public transit [because some of you seem a bit apprehensive]: -The 90s are your lifeline. They pretty much only use the transitway, so theyre your best bet for getting somewhere in less than an hour. -Get the octranspo app -The 5 and the 16 go to Laurier but not Campus. -If youre in the north artsy part of campus, your main bus station will be Laurier. If youre anywhere south of the UCU, your main bus station will be Campus. -Got a class in Hagen followed immediately by a class in SITE? Worry not, just leave a couple minutes early and grab the first bus from laurier that isnt the 5 or the 16. Itll get you to campus soon enough, from which youll be able to make it to your class in SITE on time. [just be sure to buy a snack somewhere else because the food court in site is ridiculously overpriced] -The 8 hates you. -The 87 hates you even more. -Get the octranspo app -If its the last stop, you dont have to pull the chord. The driver will stop there anyway. -The 97 loves you, as opposed to the 87. -Unless its an accordion bus, you do not, repeat, DO NOT try to enter through a rear door. The driver will likely yell at you. Nobody likes getting yelled at in public. -GET THE OCTRANSPO APP -You put the tickets(you need two tickets) in the slot with the picture of the five-dollar bill under it, unless there isnt one in which case you put it in the same thing the coins go into. Then you take a transfer. You show the transfer to the driver of the next bus (or you get on from another door and just ignore the rules)* *only applies for those ineligible to get a bus pass -If its Blair or Millenium, then it most likely doesnt stop by Billings or South Keys. [and vice-versa] -If its a westbound 90, then it probably goes down the same route as every other westbound 90. Some just go farther than others (such as the 96, which goes all the way to stittsville) -If its not in the 90s, then it probably goes on a wibbly wobbly circuit throughout the greater Ottawa area before actually getting to its destination, with few notable exceptions. -Want to go to the airport? Take the 97. Getting here from the airport? Take the 97. Your options are limited. -Dont sass the fare inspectors. -No, seriously. Dont sass them. Youll regret it. -Just get the octranspo app. It will make your life much easier.
