Fall is a busy time here on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, with an array of festivals and oyster roasts filling up the calendar. Here are a few events that could keep you busy on the Eastern Shore of Virginia this weekend. Saturday, September 20, 6:30 a.m. Onancock Bay Challenge Onancock Town Wharf, 2 Market Street, Onancock The 24th annual Onancock Bay Challenge anglers contest will take place this Saturday. Anglers will compete for over $6,500 worth of prizes in eight categories, which include red drum, spot and croaker. The largest and second largest fish caught in each category will win. There will also be merchandise prizes awarded for best overall fish, best Angler’s Club member fish, best junior angler fish and best kayak-caught fish. All anglers will also be eligible for a drawing, which features prizes from local businesses. Participants will have from 6:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. to bring their catch back to the Onancock Wharf. Sunday, September 21, 1 p.m. Fall in LOVE Picnic Robert Reed Park, Main and Mumford streets, Chincoteague Bid farewell to summer and take a photo in the LOVE chairs at Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce Fall in LOVE Picnic. This family friendly event will feature live music and photo ops in the LOVE chairs. Bring a blanket, a lunch, a lawn game and enjoy the end of summer. Visitors can feel the soft fur of the farm’s alpacas before watching a live demonstration of how the fleece is prepared, dyed, spun, weaved and felted.
