Fernando and the Wheel: Chapter 1 Many of the cars and trucks are missing other parts as well. A door is gone on one, a trunk lid on another. Some have had the motors or transmissions taken out. One truck is missing both rear wheels and the axel. It is blue and white and sits up high in back on a stack old railroad ties under its rear bumper. There is one newer truck also. It is white and still a little shiny. It is small and looks even smaller because the whole roof is smashed down like a giant monster or robot crushed it with a huge foot or a big fist. Fernando remembers when his grandfather Harrison brought the little white truck home on the trailer. He also remembers when his Great Uncle Eddie used to drive the little white truck back and forth to his job with the railroad. Now his Great Uncle Eddie has a really cool big blue custom van with aluminum running boards and an extra high roof and an electric elevator on the side for his wheelchair. Whenever Uncle Eddie comes to visit he lets Fernando ride up and down on the elevator. The van even has a special place for Uncle Eddie to use the bathroom in it and another place for him to sleep. Fernando does not play in the little white truck.
