Few years ago, Scottish audience gave the film ‘Georgia : Faces of Resistance’ its most enthousiastic reception and granted an award to it. It looked like what our film portrayed echoed their own history of resistance. Though there is of course no comparison to draw between Scottish independence referendum and Russian backed separatism in Abkhazia, let’s hope that someday there will a good reason to compare. When the conditions in Abkhazia will be similarly democratic, when russian troops will have left the territory, when internally displaced persons will be allowed to go back and take part to the vote to decide altogether with the actual residents what status they want for the land.
