Fifty years ago, President Johnson wrangled democrats into passing the Civil Rights Act of 64. The democrats fought hard against the passage of the law. LBJ knew, and voiced that the people in the south would never elect another democrat for president. But he did it anyway because it was the right thing to do. LBJ had a tough presidency because of the Viet Nam war he inherited from Eisenhower and Kennedy. Just a year before in 1963, I wasnt allowed to ride in the back of the buses in New York because that was where Colored people sat. I wasnt allowed to sit on a bus with my fellow soldiers because they were Colored. The bus drivers, Black and White alike would not move the bus with a white person sitting in the back. Thank God that has changed, and we have thousands of Black Americans fighting for the United States right now. And, they can ride any damn place they choose. Now, we have a president and some of his friends who are Black Americans causing racial discord between White and Black Americans. We made a lot of headway, thanks to LBJ but are now stuck with a person who should have never been elected because he has created an America divided. Like one Black American said on CNN, Why doesnt he just quit, hes not doing anything? All the way with LBJ!
