Figured Id share some of the comments I received on today in reaction to my column on KAs Old South Formal. The good unquestionably outweighs the bad. I just wanted to let you know that I loved your article. I thought it was fair, honest, thought provoking, and just well written overall. Thanks for speaking your mind in a gracious way. I thought your article was extremely gracious in the way you described Old South. You were open-minded, realistic, as unbiased as you could be. I really appreciate that. I just wanted to commend you for your article and thank you for a good read. You are the voice of our future, and I appreciate so much that you took the time to discuss this topic in a way that forces us to THINK and to think about how our actions and our words affect others if they don’t go together. You weren’t critical of the KA Old South party – although you will probably get some defensive replies – but I agreed with your ideas, your perceptions, and your ability to weave their own words throughout the narrative and question if they were genuine or not in their actions and words. Its opinions like yours that will one day strip Ole Miss of every bit of its heritage. It wont even be called Ole Miss one day because of this garbage opinion. Colonel Reb is gone but not forgotten, because of the same opinion, which had zero tie to racism. Furthermore, I have several black friends, and I am from Mississippi. I DISAGREE WITH YOUR OPINION! ***The first three are from members of KA. Its amazing what non-combative language can achieve.
